Over 18 months the project will provide opportunities for 12 groups of children and young people to explore identity and portraiture inspired by examples in Llanelly House.
Key aims are: to build confidence and self-esteem; break down prejudice; explore identity and develop a sense of people and place.

confluence is a creative collaboration between PLANED, spacetocreate, iDeA Architects, Pembrokeshire County Council and Transition Haverfordwest, which aims to devise and test new and imaginative ways of working that will bring the community together to inspire and shape the process of urban planning, design and regeneration
supported by the arts council of wales through the ideas people and place programme confluence is devising and delivering a programme of research to underpin a stage 2 application

moving stories
moving stories is collaboration between spacetocreate and curious ostrich - a community educational and documentary video company
over the next 4 years the project aims to engage people of all ages and with diverse health and social care needs in a series of projects telling their stories in ways that can be used to shape the planning and delivery of services in pembrokeshire

living by the sea
living by the sea was commissioned by the port of milford haven as part of seafarers awareness week 2013 to raise awareness of the contribution made by seafarers working in pembrokeshire
a group of twelve students studying a/s level photography at milford haven school worked with guy norman from spacetocreate community arts and associate film maker sharron harris of curious ostrich to create a multi media portrait exhibition for the torch theatre gallery which can also be seen in an online gallery here |
popupwest empty shops project
the popupwest project, ran between january and july 2013 and showcased the creativity of more than 30 young people through 9 diverse art installations in two empty shops in haverfordwest
the project was designed and delivered by spacetocreate community arts and as well as providing support by matching the young people with experienced artist mentors, successfully piloted the setting up of meanwhile leases on town centre properties that might otherwise have remained empty

pembrokeshire young carers website banner
spacetocreate was commissioned by action for children to work with a group of young carers to design a banner for their new website
guy norman worked with joelle brindley over two saturday workshops creating a selection of materials for use in collage for the banner and a series of portraits of all the participants

follow the dragon st davids day lantern parade
working with 5 local primary schools as well as a group of young carers and young people with special needs the community of haverfordwest came together to celebrate st davids day in spectacular fashion with an illuminated dragon and hundreds of individual lanterns made in two community workshops

the hive documentary film
frustrated by the media's portrayal of young people, and the consequent effect that has had on their own community's attitude, a group of young people set out to make a mini documentary about their youth club
the film was made in partnership with sharron harris from curious ostrich and was funded by the arts council of wales and the european social fund through the reach the heights programme
the film is being shown as part of the postcards series on the community channel and can also be seen on vimeo here |
out of the fire sculpture workshops
a fantastic creative journey at the garth youth and community project working with local artist dawny tootes to create individual and group pieces of artwork from recycled aluminium
the week of workshops provided a rare opportunity to cast artworks using scrapshack ali, dawny's amazing mobile foundry and included the design and making of lettering for the building

james brothers centenary celebration
clynderwen community association commissioned us to design a sculptural piece with pupils from clynderwen community school as part of the centenary exhibition commemorating the james brothers first flight
using the brothers fantastic flying machine as inspiration more than 30 pupils made their own individual feathers from tissue and willow which were assembled into an old bicycle wheel to create a fantastic sculptural form for the exhibition
