with funding from CANdo in pembroke dock two classes from pembroke dock community school were inspired to explore the creative possibilities of working with found and recycled materials to make christmas decorations
prior to the workshop pupils gathered a range of materials from home and from the natural world to be used during the workshop

making faces 3
as part of the reach the heights programme hosted by SPAN arts 8 pupils from the autistic unit at bush school explored identity and self-expression through the making of self-portraits and masks
as in the two earlier making faces projects, the overall aim was to build confidence and self-esteem through a planned but flexible programme of sessions focussing on self-portraiture and mask-making

monkton lantern parade
monkton communities first commissioned a series of lantern making workshops including an open family workshop at the old priory and sessions with monkton youth club and year 6 at monkton junior school
the resulting lantern parade was a great success bringing together over 150 people of all ages in a magical and windswept evening culminating in a spectacular fireworks display to celebrate bonfire night

migration echoes and traces
migration: echoes and traces marked a new phase of the rite of passage community heritage and public art project working to raise awareness of and celebrate 50 years of Irish immigration from Waterford and Cork through Neyland and on into South Wales
working in partnership with the brunel festival association the riteofpassage steering group was supported to develop a varied programme for the the 2010 festival which included a youth photography project, a set of colourful flags, sea shanties and a story telling project

hands up for neyland
a series of 10 brightly coloured flags greeted visitors to neyland in october 2010 marking “migration: echoes and traces” neylands’ festival of community arts
the flags, celebrating different aspects of the town’s rich but largely hidden culture and heritage, were designed by the children of neyland community school working with visual artist pip lewis and illustrator joelle brindley

the way we see it
young people from neyland youth club worked with film-maker sharron harris and visual artist pip lewis to create work for a contemporary photographic exhibition at the library exploring their perceptions of neyland
over six weeks of workshops the young people created a portfolio of work selecting 15 images for mounting and inclusion in an exhibition in the town library alongside a further 16 images which were produced as a set of postcards

action for children : staying safe
an animated short film project produced by the young people of the hawthorn project
creating stop-motion animation, building models and sets and recording their own music and soundtrack, the team produced a resource DVD aimed at young people living with disabilities, which explores the issues of 'staying safe' both within the community and online
the film premiered on 12th may 2011 and has been shortlisted for the children and young people now awards and the best young film maker at the oska bright awards

from the heart: pembroke dock lantern parade 2010
community artists from spacetocreate worked with over 200 people from the community and local schools on the creation of over 100 individual lanterns as well as a series of larger scale constructions all based on the heart design
the town's biggest parade yet brought crowds out onto the streets to welcome the hundreds of lantern carriers accompanied by samba doc and culminating in a spectacular fireworks display over the waterway

five minutes of fame
working with a print technician from pembrokeshire college young people from tanyard and monkton youth projects created images of themselves using photography and screen-printing processes
25 screen printed images (each approximately 30cm square) will together form a public artwork for display in foundry house a community building in pembroke

narberth food festival education day
the education day as part of narberth's annual food festival presented the challenge of working with seven classes of children in one short day to make a colourful set of banners on the theme of breakfasts around the world
once made the banners were displayed over the weekend of the festival to decorate an area of the marquee

pembroke potato festival
the much loved and easily overlooked art of potato printing made a welcome re-appearance at the fourth annual festival celebrating the arrival of this season's pembrokeshire new potato crop
children and families created colourful bunting and printed headdresses using a set of alphabet potato prints to print their names and messages

pembrokeshire fishweek
a day of drop-in arts and crafts activities was provided for the thousands of visitors to the opening day of pembrokeshire fishweek on the harbour at milford haven
other fish-related arts activities during the festival included: a project working with the darwin science festival to make prints with primary school children from their direct observation of life in rockpools; input into the development and judging of a sculpture competition; and a family arts and crafts workshop at haverfordwest library making masks and headdresses

| pembroke dock midsummer festival
carnevale was the theme chosen by pembroke dock festival group for the fifth annual midsummer festival and over 200 participants from local schools and community groups ranging in age from 5 to 65 made masks inspired by mediterranean and venetian tradtions for entry into the carnevale masquerade held as part of the grand street party

| seafair haven
brunel quay in neyland hosted the public day for the milford haven waterway's third biennial maritime festival and the many visitors to the art and craft marquee got involved in a range of visual arts activities inspired by traditional sailing
participants had opportunities to contribute to a large scale painting to commemorate the parade of sail as well as to make their mark decorating a section of a clinker built vessel donated by the MITEC centre in Milford Haven
boats made from willow and tissue paper and maritime inspired headdresses were also made in an eventful day of maritime themed arts activities

pembroke festival pirates procession
young people from monkton youth club and the tanyard youth project in pembroke worked with artists from spacetocreate to construct two giant processional pirate ships to lead the opening night parade to mark pembroke's annual community festival in 2010
during a series of workshops in the run up to the festival participants learned to work with willow and tissue to recreate the ships capatained by two famous pembrokeshire pirates: hywel davies of milford haven and bartholomew roberts from little newcastle, as well experimenting with a range of stencilling and fabric painting techniques to make flags and bandannas

imageinate pembroke
imageinate is a sound and animation project involving young people living in and around Pembroke, who worked with a Visual artist, musician, filmmaker and animator to explore their sense of identity, their place within their community, and their dreams and aspirations.
over 70 young people aged 11-19 attended a series of workshops in the tanyard youth project, monkton priory learning unit, pembroke school and an open day at foundry house and the work was brought together in an animated film premiered during pembroke festival 2010
